This is the fourth installment in the Main Clambake Mystery series and I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. I haven't had a chance to read the third book in the series yet and as I was reading this one I was surprised at how much I missed reading this series. This author has a great descriptive writing style that draws the reader in allowing them to get to know the characters and the town creating a wonderful atmosphere. The mystery is well thought out and well plotted. It has plenty of surprise along the way as well as a number of suspects to choose from. I really like how the characters are developing and the theme of friendship that ran through the story. Because the murder takes place in the off season, the story centers mainly on Julia and her ability to solve the mystery. I enjoy her character and find her to be warm, sensitive and realistic. Because of the way this story was written, I felt that the reader was able to really connect with Julia in a way that perhaps we haven't before because her family members have played more of a part in the story. I also like the way the author is writing the romance between Chris and Julia. It is developing at a realistic pace and is not being rushed.

This was a highly enjoyable read and I will definitely be going back to see what I missed with book three. It was nice to be reminded again how much I enjoy this series and this author.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a positive review and the thoughts expressed are my own.

I love love love these books! Julia Snowden is settling back in to Busman Harbor and has started running Gus's Too with her boyfriend, Chris. When Gus finds a body in the walk-in freezer of the restaurant Julia just can't help but start digging around and asking questions. The story goes fast and is yet again another great read in the Clambake series.

In this fourth book in the Maine Clambake cozy mystery series, it’s the off season and Julia and her boyfriend Chris have just started opening Gus’s for dinner to supplement their income and provide a gathering place for people in town since all the summer restaurants are closed. At the start of the book, Gus, who also rents Julia the upstairs apartment over his restaurant, comes up the stairs to tell her there is a dead body in the walk-in freezer… and the mystery fun ensues. This one was a particularly good mystery. I love how each of these mysteries always are very restaurant-food focused, and this was no exception. The mystery this time involved a stranger no one had seen before in town, a car accident, and a cold foggy Maine night. A perfect murder mystery! I really enjoyed the way the clues unfolded.

The townies and the state police have all grown on me. This story was a good one pulling from the towns history and people. Next one is in my kindle ready to go.

I am obsessed with this series. I love visiting Busman's Harbor to see how Julia and the others are all doing. This story had some twists and turns and ended completely different than I had guessed. I cannot wait to read the next.
