Me encantó!

I Will recommend it to friends.

I couldn't put the book down. It was the very first book of Victoria Schwab that I read, and I am so glad that I liked it.

I liked it but I just felt like more could have been done.

For starters, I'd say almost the entire of the first half was so slow. There's nothing wrong with slow building of course, it's just not for me. I also wish we could've seen August use his ability more, which I'm hoping to see in the second book

Starts off a tad slow but it REALLY REALLY picks up! I couldn't stop reading it. It's fantastical and incredibly unique. Monsters for the win! Can't wait for the next one.

I started the Audiobook on a Monday and finished on Thursday evening if that tells you anything about how much I enjoyed this book. It was a solid read (listen?), not spectacular, but solid. I grew to really love the characters August and Kate. I enjoyed their dynamic and the fact that they are mirror images of one another. I enjoyed the kind of slow-burn of their relationship (not a spoiler imo) and that was primarily what drove my interest in the story. That and my attachment to August in particular. I was interested in seeing how/if the limits of his power would be stretched by the end. '

The mythology of this world is interesting but not super deep. I only say that because I know there are people who may have read this book or are interested in reading it that would have loved a deeper dive into the history and mythology of this fantasy/dystopia. On that note, it was pretty cool reading (listening??) to a book that kind of melds two genres that otherwise wouldn't go together. I was definitely compelled to download the sequel immediately and started it the next morning.
