Story of a young girl, forbidden love, a needful sacrifice, and a lonely life. Very lyrical writing - I enjoyed the story, as only a mother could.

So beautifully written! This book transported me to another world and another time. It is not a happy go lucky book, but not depressing either. The people are described so well. I read this for a book club and I can't wait to discuss it. Just lovely.
