Do not read this book before bed, especially in Michigan, especially on New Year’s Eve, especially alone. I made all of these mistakes. I did not sleep. I finished the book.

Week 14 of the 2018 Reading Challenge: 4 books linked by the 4 elements: Book #2 Fire.

I've read a few of Steve Hamilton's books and they are a good, solid mystery. This one did not disappoint and kept me guessing.

Gripping story line, very relatable characters. The fact that it's set in my favorite place on earth - northern Ontario - is a big bonus.

The series is great, it’s a private eye noir set in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula where summers are short and winters are brutal and cold. I really enjoy the series, but our poor protagonist never seems to catch a break or have a good time. Despite that, this book, and the series is certainly worth reading.

This particular book took our private eye and his friend up to Ontario in search of the friend’s brother. It’s a page turner!
