This book is all over the booktok “disturbing must read” lists but I don’t understand why. It wasn’t disturbing and it wasn’t a must read.
This book reminded me a lot of Dark Across The Bay. Ahlborn seemed like she followed the same formula here which was make the story drag on for 3/4 of the book, put all the action at the end, and make the characters repeat the same stuff for enough pages to make a book. The main character’s internal dialogue was just “I should tell my wife the truth. No I shouldn’t. Yes I should. No I shouldn’t.”
All in all this book was tedious to read. I originally gave it 3 stars but knocked it down to 2 after I thought about it to make this review.
