It is interesting to read non fiction on pirates. It focuses on America in a specific time period, so not all famous pirates are included.
There are a lot of details unknown from the time period, which certainly isn't the author's fault. And the truth, like a lot of things, isn't as exciting or colorful or detailed as Hollywood leads you to believe.
There are a lot of economics, most pirates didn't get rich, and there weren't treasure maps with buried treasure.
Still interesting, and covers both the macro of the times and some specific stories and pirates in detail.
