Every time I read or watch Return of the King I keep thinking, 'there's just no way they're going to get the ring to Mount Doom,' and each time they do I am quite literally overjoyed. Masterful story telling. Also this was my first time reading the trilogy after reading the Silmarillion, which was very helpful - so much lore.

The good: world building, prose, ending
The bad: lack of dialogue, lack of character depth, flies through major events with minimal description, too much singing

I just couldn’t get through this book. The first two were already a drag but this one, i don’t understand any of the words they are using and don’t know where the story is going. It’s just too much.

The adventure continues and concludes, but what is happening in the Shire.
Another enjoyable re-read.
