This picture book is a beautiful lyrical story that is told as much through the artwork as through the words themselves. A boy returns to the sea time and again searching for answers to life’s questions. As he grows up, the sea responds to him. Dream. Love. Be. Heartfelt reminders for all of us, no matter our age.

Beautiful illustrations. A lovely concept. My kid was a bit perplexed by it but it ended up in the ‘read again’ pile, so that’s a win. A gentle, thoughtful book about ageing and wisdom, and our connection with the natural world. A good conversation starter with your kids, as long as you’re ready to talk about some big, intangible ideas.

This is a sweet, lyrical picture book I’ve read with my youngest. As a young boy till he grows old, he looks to the sea thinking and questioning. At times throughout this life he think he hears the sea say dream, love, and be. I enjoyed reading this poetic and thoughtful book, and looking at the lovely illustrations.

The book tells a coming age story of a young boy, and how his connection to the sea shapes him throughout his life. Full of beautiful pictures, the story was also emotional and I found myself tearing up. My six year old loved it, though it went over the head of my three year old. There aren't a lot of words per page, but yet the story pulls a big punch. It is worth repeating, but the illustrations are gorgeous! It made me want to go to the beach, and just stare out at the water. Thank you to Uplit Reads for an advanced copy, all opinions are my own.

The illustration of this book is absolutely beautiful! It's one that I'll refer back to, as the pictures are just as good as the story.
This story is one that is good for any age at any stage of life. The beach is a place of reflection for so many and this book does a great job at capturing that.
This would be a great gift for anyone who loves the beach and the water!

This book was breathtakingly beautiful. I was immediately hooked by the illustrations. I cannot get over how beautiful this book was.
In this book a young boy questions life and as those questions change so does he. This was such a well written story.
My only complaint is that the font seemed a little small, but if it were bigger it would probably take away from the stunning pictures.
Thank you to Edelweiss+ and ABRAMS books for the e-ARC
