I can't handle any more of Wes being this much of an asshole while Rain fawns over him. I can understand why bully romances or romances with guys who start off as total douchebags work for a lot of people, but I've learned that they just do not work for me except in very rare exceptions, and this was NOT an exception. Wes has spent the entire first 1/4 of the book blaming Rain for everything (even though literally everything thus far has stemmed from him kidnapping her at gunpoint at the beginning of the book), and when he isn't talking to her like she's a piece of trash, he's sexualizing every movement she makes.

A fantastic apocalyptic novel. Definitely not what I was expecting for a book with young adult MCs but it was the perfect blend of adventure, mystery, chilling suspense, heart-wrenching sorrow, and mind-blowing sexual chemistry. B. B. Easton has done an amazing job with this series and I cannot wait to read the next book in the trilogy.

I really enjoyed this apocalyptic love story. It is a unique take on this subgenre of romance because it takes place the days before the apocalypse rather than during or post the world-ending event. It shows how fear can strip people of their humanity and how hope can be the key to survival. Our characters specifically our heroine are not ina good place mentally during the story and what I liked is that while the hero certainly helps with those struggles. He does not "cure" them.
