It's getting that extra .5 for the completely unexpected
Spoilerqueer threesome
tbh. Love this. Kinda wanted them to become more fucked up is anything, but I suppose there are later books for that.

Definitely reading the next one.
SpoilerI kinda ship them all with each other ngl. I also ship Tristan with therapy. All of them ofc, but I feel like it wouldn't work on Parisa and Callum coz they'd judge the therapist too much

hmm idk how to feel about this.

it was very dense and took me a while to get into it because of the deep descriptions of magic and dark academia, but at the same time it was genuinely interesting and well thought out so worth reading and it skimming over.

the characters are interesting and not at all one dimensional and i’m intrigued to see how they develop into the later books in the series (assuming there’s more than two).

the ending confused the fuck out of me but i roughly knew that ezra would play a bigger role.

literally all of the characters had chemistry with each other so i don’t really pair any of them romantically at the moment??? i thought i liked nicolibby but then nicogideon and tristanlibby came out of nowhere, but then we got tristancallum but also reinanico and it’s all very confusing.

looking forward to book two despite this book making me feel stupid sometimes.

I can't fault this book, other than Dalton gives me the creeps for some reason.

"Beware the man who faces you unarmed. If in his eyes you are not the target, then you can be sure you are the weapon."

The Atlas Six follows six magicians that have been tasked with taking care of the (in this universe, still-standing) Library of Alexandria, along with the theories about time, space, and life they come up with using both their powers and the library's resources.

Something that is probably evident considering my rating is that I didn't like this novel. I appreciated and admired it, of course, for it had brilliant characters, an interesting moral quandary, and fascinating studies at its center. The Succession-esque dynamics, most of the time, were also enjoyable to explore (the Parisa-Callum scene comes to mind).

However, ultimately, this novel felt redundant to me. Lots of scenes were repetitive and a bit too slow for my tastes, and I found the overall narrative to be lacking a goal, or even just a plot in general. There wasn't anything concrete about this; it was made up of short stories interlinked, which, granted, may work for some people, but I'm not one of those people.

TL;DR: A well-crafted novel that didn't personally work for me, but one you definitely shouldn't avoid on my account.
