I may be biased as someone who is afflicted with similar conditions as the main character (cleft-affected and hard of hearing), it was one of the most accurate representations of being young and growing up with a facial difference. The good, the bad, and the ugly involved with it.

While sometimes I felt the main cast acted a bit “too young” for their age, it also could be me just interpreting children wrong as it’s been a while since I was in 5th grade myself.

Such a cute story. I had to read this for college and I'm so happy that I actually did. Auggie is an inspiration and I love how he has protectors all around him, even when he doesn't realize it. Definitely a middle school to early high school book, but I think it would give any adult the warm fuzzies.

2 hours 12 minutes - This book was fine, an easy to read, feel-good story, focusing on real-life prejudices and struggles. Some parts feel very observational and are very well done, such as the introduction to part two, Via’s story, where you realise you as the reader has done the exact thing everyone else in her life has already done. However, other parts, just seemed pointless. Justin’s story was almost unreadable with the lack of speech marks and capital letters, and didn’t really add anything to the story. Summer’s part also felt a little pointless, although I enjoyed Jack’s part. The first half of the book felt truer than the second, as an ‘action’ based scene is written but feels forced just to add a bit of excitement. So overall, this book was okay, I liked some parts of it and the overall message, but I didn’t like other parts and the way they were written.
