Return to Oakpine was a little too commercial for me, but if you like a story that follows comfortable and predictable lines, then you might quite enjoy this. 3 stars

Some interesting characters, and Carlson creates a very strong sense of place. But while I'm a sucker for most novels where music plays a strong role, I found the plot a little formulaic. Even though I saw most events coming I still felt their impact, and that's what bumped this review from two to three stars.
