Talons of fire was such a great book. There was so much revelations going on. And compared to the previous book, this book started off a bit slow paced. But the ending is great as usual and can't wait to read the next book!

Boring, though I really appreciated the chance to get a closer look at Turtle’s character.

First book of the New Year - may 2022 prove to be better than 2021…

Book 9 in the series, we follow our unlikely hero - Turtle (love the name) - as we approach the end of the second arc. Like the other books in the series, this book too is about Turtle overcoming his issues and learning to be a better dragon. I will say that all the dragons in this series have had crappy lives in their childhood - I’d like to see a well adjusted dragon soon please.

The author’s particular brand of humour continues - though less muted than Book 8. Turtle is not the most exciting of protagonists as he is a “coward” and generally passive. That is understandable but makes for slower reading than Peril’s book. Resultantly, I found the book bit slow, especially in the middle and my interest meandered a bit.

Going with 3.5 stars in the end as I think this is a fun book for middle grade readers and sets up for hopefully an exciting new chapter in the world. A little slow for my taste but then I am not the target audience.

I was going to go to sleep but with that ending...I guess I'm pulling an all nighter for book 10

This book is where the main plot sort of hits its stride, and I think Turtle is the perfect dragon to do that with. He's sweet, he's scared, he's devoted to his family (but also adrift from them in a lot of ways - Sea Wing pun). But he also has the abilities that make this book seem possible at the current point in the series.

I think I felt the most tense throughout this one, and that's probably because Turtle seemed so vulnerable. Of all of the characters, I felt for his backstory the most. And I think his character arc is among the best.
