Suspenseful romance is always a hit or miss with me, plus when you are still getting use to the author's writing style, as a reader you are trying to decide how far your obsession will take you. Janie Crouch has an interesting way of her writing style, I like a lot about it yet I am still on the fence.

Jumping into EAGLE though, I was ready to continue this amazingly interesting suspenseful romance. Another angle to the romance itself that I really enjoyed, something that surprised me to enjoy was that this was a second change lovestory. Charlotte had previously left Finn to marry another man and now they are working to rekindle their romance. This is of course just the tip of the iceberg that is the rollarcoaster of events to their romance and I am left on the edge of my seat the entire time.

I really enjoyed a lot about Finn. He admits his resistance towards the return of Charlotte, I like his initial reaction - it was believable. Plus, adding in his eight year old son, Ethan they were the best part of everything EAGLE. They were so protective, sweet, kindhearted, charismatic, truly they made this novel. For me personally, I just felt more connection towards Finn's dynamic. And speaking of the other side, Charlotte - I liked her, I did. Ugh, I feel I am so shameful to fictional female characters, but I can't help it. Charlotte appeared on many occasions very headstrong, overly confident and honestly she wasn't remorseful for her past actions. It also irked me that on many points, she somewhat belittled Finn, she thought the worst of his person, instead of recognizing the growth.

The romance was definitely the main attribute for the novel, not that I am complaining. Charlotte and Finn together was actually great chemistry, they just fell into place. But it was simply that with all the drama and suspense whirling around, I felt it did still feel a little of a backdrop scenario to the main characters rekindling their love. The build was great, but something lacked, at least for me.

Even with what seems to have annoyed me, or even made me dislike certain aspects of the characters (namely Charlotte...) I really did enjoy EAGLE. I think it was more intense, power driven and the chemistry between Charlotte and Finn was delicious. The suspense factor still kept me on the edge of my seat, waiting to see all the webs tie together neatly. I am also really excited to see the next story - there is much promise with Aiden, yes!

single dad romance - absolutely romantic

I love a single dad story. The love and protection Finn has for his son Ethan is so pure. Reconnecting with Charlie after years apart just shows how strong their love for one another once burned and rekindled when she same back. The plot twist took me by surprise! I didn’t see that coming!

This is Book #2 in the Linear Tactical series. Wow! Charlie is a fighter, stubborn, and smart. What she did for her parents is amazing. Finn would do anything to keep her safe. A perfect match!

I have read Book #1, Cyclone, too. I am looking forward to reading Shamrock, Book #3 in this series.

She humiliated him in front of the entire town when she married someone else, saying that he had more money than him. After being together for so long, she decided he wasn’t good enough for her. Finn went back to the army only to discover that he had a son, and the mother didn’t want to take care of him. Now, after eight years, his only worry is his son’s education.

Charlotte was chosen to help Finn’s son. The two of them aren’t on good terms with each other, but Charlie is at the end of her rope and that job is her last hope.

The ex-princess is back in town, but she’s different. Working three jobs, driving a ten-year-old car, losing weight and sleep. Something about her doesn’t sit well with Finn and he has questions. Will she let him in and tell him all her secrets and regrets, or will he have to take down her walls himself?

The only reason I’m giving this four instead of five is because I figured it out this time. I feel proud that I did after Cyclone kept me questioning everything and ending up being wrong.

Ah, Finn and Charlotte. It's impossible to read this one without falling a bit for Finn and rooting for this pair's happy ever after. Finn is smart, strong, and sexy, and for me, the most endearing thing about him is his complete and utter devotion to his son, Ethan. Charlotte is just as devoted to her family and most of her decisions have revolved around whatever is in the best interest of her ailing father. They are both stubborn to the extreme and drove me a little crazy with their push and pull on the relationship front. Of course, this is their second chance, even if neither of them want to admit it. Much like the first Linear Tactical book, we also get plenty of excitement with our romance by way of an undercover operation that Charlotte stumbles into, lots of danger, and a bit of betrayal. All in all, another great steamy romantic suspense in the series. The book does work well as a standalone, but once you've gotten to know these terrific characters, you'll want to know more, and we even get a little bit of a hint for the next book in the series.

I absolutely loved this story!!! It was soo well written and drew me in from beginning to end! I truly didn't want to put the story down but real life interrupted lol. I loved getting to know Charlie and Finn better. We know something went down with them but not quite what at first. This book is the second in the series but can be read as a stand alone. We do get to see characters from the previous book and we did meet both Finn and Charlie in the first one, so we do know a little about them, but you aren't missing any critical information if you haven't read it and start with this book. I loved the action and intrigue in this story. It flows so well and definitely keeps you engaged. Charlie and Finn have things that need to be cleared up but they are just meant to be together and so can't get away from the draw they feel towards the other. The sex is explicit and fits into the story. It fits the characters and what's going on at the time. There were a few twists in the story as well. Overall, it was just really well done and I loved it! I can't wait to read the next one!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
