I found this title on a list of books SCIS feels are required inclusions about Indigenous Australians.  I really enjoy Archie's way of writing, but was soon very saddened by the descriptions of drinking and its side-effects.  Happily, he writes beautifully about his battles with alcohol and his rehabilitation, showing great strength of character.  Whilst the displacement, alcoholism, homelessness and incarceration are unhappy but vital parts of his story, the positives are his connection to family, his music and his eternal bond with soul-mate, Ruby Baker.  I have now decided that we definitely need to add this younger reader's version of Archie's story to our library collection.
