Ok... so I'm a little late to the game on this one, but I finally understand the hype around this book. It was perfect in everyway. The setting, the dialogue, and the smallest details that come together in the penultimate moment to become the most important pieces of the puzzle... I loved it. love, love, loved it.

I had already seen the movie, which turns out to be a pretty faithful adaptation, so I didn't get very much out of this book. If you don't know about the big plot twist, though, I highly recommend; it's very fun.. Except for how depressing it is, with all the murders and psychosis.. But fun in a murder mystery type of way

This book chilled me to the core.

I haven’t seen the film yet so I don’t have anything to compare it to which is good I guess. The only reason it is a 4 star is because the writing is quite difficult to grasp.

Definitely not a heartwarming tale, but what else could I expect from Dennis Lehane. I did enjoy this book, but did struggle to follow the story at times. That was probably the point.

Great book and a great but obvious plot twist. Should make a pretty good movie. Will have to check out some more Dennis Lehane, maybe Mystic River.
