‘Absolutely scunnered. I swear, story of my life.’

I really loved The Library Of The Dead when I read it last year but I think that this book is even better. Ropa has grown into herself, she is feisty, brilliant, funny and just so cool

The Library of the Dead by T L Huchu was one of my favourite reads of last year, it had magic, ghosts and mystery in Edinburgh, what more could you want, oh wait a second book why yes I am definitely up for that. Well count myself ecstatic because Our Lady of Mysterious Ailments is exactly the book I and 2022 is missing.

I absolutely adored this and I loved the first, dare I say I think it’s even better than the first. The story again is wonderful , so unique and the characters get even more interesting, and we learn about and get more development for every character, especially Ropa, (and Gran but no spoilers here) I particularly loved that we got more about Priya. The world building as always is absolutely fantastic, vibrant and magical. Edinburgh is one of my favourite cities and I always love reading Huchu’s magical version with its gang wars, the dark underbelly contrasting with the many privileges associated with the schools of magic.

Our Lady of Mysterious Ailments is exciting and full of suspense, as expected Ropa and her friends finds themselves facing danger again as she uncovers dark magic and a malevolent spirit. This book takes us deeper into Huchu’s future/post disaster Edinburgh and we learn more of its history and hierarchy and I can’t wait to read more about Ropa and her Edinburgh in future books, this series is fantastic and to me a must read for any fans of fantasy, mystery and suspense, you will love it and wonder why it took you so long.

Thanks to @TendaiHuchu @UKTor @blackcrow_pr for a free copy in exchange for an honest opinion, all opinions are my own and freely given.

I was SO THRILLED to be approved for this sequel to one of my favorite books of last year! Ropa is back, and as practical, funny, and fiery as ever. Review to come closer to publication.

I love the world and the magic, but I was
Spoiler kind of surprised by that streetsmart Ropa trusted a stranger so quickly.

I’m kind of itchy with all the empiricism and skeptical enquirer and it’s all just hard sciences stuff. I hope future installments compare that to other schools of thinking.

4/5 stars.
This a complicated story. I think I liked the first book more but it was still an interesting story. I liked how everything felt so separate but came together in the end. I also appreciate the how realistic the outcomes are. I personally would like the story to be more character driven but that’s a personal preference.
4/5 stars, I’d recommend this book to teens into heavy plots and diverse characters

Didn't enjoy quite as much as the first one - the mystery solving didn't unfold the way I prefer to figure something out when there's a mystery in my book. But Ropa's still cool to hang out with for a few hundred pages, and I love discovering magic and future Edinburgh
