More Neuhold gold

I held out as long as I could, but I finally caved. Another great read from Neuhold - likeable characters, decent plot and dialogue between characters and as always, sizzling chemistry. It’s a winner folks!

Crankshaft

Steele and Porter

I'm so happy for Porter! I love that he got a book of his own finally. I love how the author gave him his dream guy. Having met Porter in the Four Bears Construction series I was pleasantly surprised by how not shy he was

Quick easy read.

This story went quickly and was sunshine and unicorns. Perfect summer reading. I read the Four Bears series. Now I'm going to read these.

I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more in this series. I also clearly need to go back and read the Bears Construction books. This is a wonderful portrayal of two people with crazy, hectic lives and too many obligations who don’t believe they have time for a relationship falling into a relationship ship and finding happiness and love and someone to share their lives and their burdens with.

Porter is a recently graduated veterinarian who owns his own clinic after buying it from the doctor who he interned with. He’s stressed, financially strapped, and overworked as well as unsure of himself. Steele is a mechanic who owns his own garage and is busy, stressed, and constantly worried about the people he needs to take care of in his life. When they meet (again) in a bar and have a unique first night together a friendship forms which turns into friends with benefits and ultimately a life together. It’s sweet, fun, mostly low angst, with a bunch of interfering, busybody friends.

We’ve got age gap, friends to lovers, found family, hurt/comfort among other tropes to enjoy. I read the book in one sitting and am looking forward to the next one.

Soldily enjoyable. Porter is sweet, his dynamic with Steele is sexy and warm, and I enjoyed the sex.

I really liked other books by KM, but this one really did nothing for me, there is nothing unique about this story or dynamic

Why, why?! I really, really wanted to like you!

I have had this book on my TBR for months and was so excited to read it today… now I am regretting it. This was a disappointing read for me.

The story was bland, so, so bland. Nothing much happened. It needed something…plot, angst, something. As it was, a whole lot of nothing happened. I wasn’t really invested in the romance which kinda needs to happen to enjoy a romance novel. Porter’s character never really clicked for me. The story is about a mechanic shop and we don’t really spend much time there but a crap ton of the story was devoted to the vet shop which is less interesting imo.

The writing was just fine.
There were a few editing and continuity issues but not enough to distract from story.

I don’t think I will be continuing this series, especially since the next book is Gates and he is a wholly unlikeable, immature, 40 year old man-child.

I have heard great things about this author so I will give her books another go sometime in the future.
