This book was emotional and found myself wanting to talk to the author when she was going through these experiences in this book. I wish we had more stories with the family since she kept saying her family was so close but didn’t really get that experience in the book. I do feel like every woman should read this book. I’m sure many woman have had similar experiences.

“For half a minute, I was flying. For half a minute, I knew I had it in me to tell the truth and be loved anyway.”

Solid memoir about a girl whose father was in prison and who had a rough relationship with her mother. She put her dad on a pedestal, as many kids do, not knowing the full extent of what landed him in prison in the first place. I loved her relationship with her siblings and grandmother, and how she came to reckon with her easier and difficult relationships throughout her life. Raw and self-accepting, while also being real about forgiving the sins of others.
