Professor Fears delivers a great series of lectures once again. Dr. Fears is both engaging and informative. I highly recommend if you are looking for an insightful look into Churchill.

A very uncritically pro-Churchill series from an admittedly pro-Churchill lecturer. Not that this is a bad thing, I'm very pro-Chuchill myself - I just feel the first two lectures in which he looks at his forebears and early life are a tad superfluous and long-winded.

I liked this well enough (hence the three stars), but I felt it was (a) very brief, and (b) presented from single, narrow viewpoint (which the lecturer, J. Fears, quite clearly declares he is doing.)

To be fair, I just finished (a month or two ago) The Bully Pulpit and I think I was looking for something as ranging and in depth (both!) as that. This lecture series does not set off to do any such thing. Dr. Fears sets out to discuss how Churchill supported and advanced liberty; in this, he is quite successful. But this is a slice of the man, a slice of his effects even, and not really 'Churchill.'

Fears is an energetic speaker who makes the subject interesting but in staking out his point of view as to Churchill's place in history, he has been caught out by the most recent events (no spoiler here, you'll have to listen).
This is not a deep dive into Churchill's life but a short overview.
