I couldn't get past the listing of old mystery books/authors and the mother-in-law talking in Shakespeare quotes.  Plus, I never really cared for the main characters.

Annie Darling runs the Death on Demand mystery bookstore on a small island off the coast of South Carolina where a new member of the local library board is attempting to control the board much to their horror. And imagine the horror of Annie Darling when that library board member is shot in front of her during a July 4th celebration.

It's the Fourth of July on Broward's Rock and the library board is trying to figure out how to separate themselves from misogynistic former brigadier general who is s completely taking over The island in convincing the other men to go along with him.
Because of the number of people that turn up dead on Annie's Highland, it's not surprising that the general will be one of them. The hard part is just going to be narrowing down who actually killed him because God knows there's more than enough people who hated him .
Another Hart book. Not great, not bad.
