Well-written story about the founding and growth of Ethereum; more about the people and the gestalt with just enough high-level skim of the underlying technology when needed. It has a Michael Lewis-style Liar's Poker/The Big Short feel to it, but more balanced. It quickly becomes apparent that Russo likes/respects Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, but she's more subtle/less polemic than Lewis can be.

More of a hagiography than a piece of unbiased reporting, it's clear from the start that the author was quite enamored with her topic (and full disclosure to my memory didn't reveal how much of a stake she has in ETH, although this could be an oversight on my part). There's so much dirty laundry here to discuss that she can't completely whitewash the entire saga, but even these aspects of the various characters coming in and out of the picture to develop this particular crypto always feel like they get a bit too generic of a profile. There's not a great story arc and feels somewhat splintered.

Does a good job of setting up why Ethereum is different from Bitcoin and explaining the culture. Doesn't spend too much time wallowing in the myth making zeitgeist that can happen with new hot things. I will have to keep reading but I found the technical explanations easy to follow and really appreciated the discussions on what some of the goals Ethereum might be able to meet outside of making some people rich. The Bloomberg reporters do a good job overall about talking about stuff like this with out climbing too high up on hype mountain.

Anyone who’s curious about crypto - especially about Ethereum - should read this book. It talks about the crypto space and the history of Ethereum, among other things, at great detail. It makes you really understand why we need blockchain and why the world is slowly but steadily moving in this direction. Highly recommended!

It is a nice compilation for newcomers to the crypto space to get up to date with the major events that shaped Ethereum. Some stories were fun, others really showed how it really is to run a start-up and know you are responsible for large amounts of money. But at the same time, it shows how if you are in the right place and with the right people, doors might just open for you.

A quick paced account of the dreams and the drama among the early founders attempting to steer the destiny of Ethereum.
