This was a good book. It took me a while to read it but it was still enjoyable. It gave me a view into a different perspective than what I'm typically use to.

I've got a lot of conflicting feelings about this book so until I sort them out this is all I'm going to put for now.

I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did, or to get so invested in its characters. As it is, nothing much happens outside the regular, uninteresting life events of Ifemelu and Obinze, but Adichie's writing is  compelling and thought-provoking. The story makes the reader consider race in American society and the myriad ways in which racial lines are drawn and crossed. Although some parts felt bogged down in dialogue, the book overall is beautiful in its honesty and passion.

Found the minor characters more interesting than the main character. Bit slow. It's interesting, but I didn't love it.
