This was a fast read of two characters who found their way back together. There was a bunch of steam and the plot was interesting. But there wasn't much time for the characters to develop and grow.

I mostly read this because it got picked for my tbr list and I'm not really glad that it did xD
idk it wasn't good, the spicy scenes were the only thing that made the book worth 2 stars to me. It's cringy, cliché and just bad writing. I think when the book started with "I didn't choose this life. it chose me" and "The bad boy isn't meant to have the good girl", I just knew it wasn't for me. Also, the whole deal with his mother was too long, and the issue of him being a drug dealer was just her being dramatic.

Anyway, Willow Winters hasn't really been a hit for me, but I do have lots of other books on my kindle, so I probably will give her another shot.

I'm sorry. I just can't with hetro romance smut I guess. I'm too much of a feminist for this. I didn't think I would like the second chance trope but I did. I loved the caracter progress, the smut was fine but I expected more that 2 scènes
BUT includes *spoilers*
Spoiler
I just can't with the alpha male vibe. And I was thinking okay this book get 3 stars and on Storygraph 3.5 but that in the epiloge he said "She wants to work though. At least for now she does. UNTIL I PUT A BABY IN HER" . Okay BYE! I JUST CAN'T WITH THE FUCKING PUTTIN BABIES IN WOMEN. JUST NAHA.

When I started reading Willow's book years ago, this was the first one that I started with and what got me hooked on her books. I was recently given an opportunity to read this again, and it brought back a nostalgia feeling, being able to reread this book and relive Derek and Emma's story.

Derek and Emma kept their relationship in high school, with knowing what he was doing. He let her go, giving her a chance to have a life without him, to be happy. Years later, he is taken to his friend Tony's girlfriends house, and he gets to see someone he thought he would never see again. Would you call them high school sweethearts, even if they rekindle their relationship years later? Read this to find out more about Derek and Emma's relationship.

I personally would call them high school sweethearts, even if it was years later, but everyone has a different view on it. Rereading the love of a girl who fell in love at a young age and being there for her bad boy made my heart melt. This will forever be a nostalgic read for me now, and if you have not read this book yet, you totally should. This is recommended for readers 18+ due to the mature content within the story

description

Ahhh, this book! I already had it ordered as paperback, but I got it as Ebook for free too. So ofcourse I was extra excited to start this!

It's definately a fast, short read. But boy, there is a lot of shit going on in this book. And it makes me sad that the book isn't longer.

Emma and Derek have history. A forbidden high school romance. Hidden from the world. They both knew it wouldn't last, but they also held hope it would. Derek has been trouble since he was very young, already dealing drugs in school. Emma is you typical good girl, so obviously she doesn't agree to this behaviour.

When Emma walks away, unable to deal (hehe) with all the trouble Derek brings, they both know they will never forget eachother. I guess when you know you found the one, you won't ever be able to forget them, even if you know it will never work.

Fast forward 5 years and Emma is back in town, staying at her sister's house.

Her sister is dating Derek's right hand man and best friend, but ofcourseee we don't know that yet. But when she tells Emma that her boyfriend is bringing 'a friend' over, it gets sooo obvious. Which is a good thing, because I was SO ready for a reunion.

Just like old times Emma and Derek hit it off, like nothing ever changed. But, lets be honest, a lot has changed these past 5 years. Derek is no longer dealing, he owns the whole shitshow. Emma is still the good girl, studying to be a teacher. Derek remains the bad boy she knew in Highschool.

But this time Derek isn't going to let Emma go. He let her walk away once, that's not going to happen again. So he will do everything in his power to keep her by his side, even if it means giving up the live he knows.

❝I'll be whatever you want. I'll give you whatever you want. I'll tell you everything. Please, just don't leave me.❞

I think this was a major changing point for Derek and Emma. He never wanted to share with her, tell her things. It was one of the reasons Emma walked away the first time. She doesn't want to be kept in the dark. So this was some REAL character development.

We watch how they fall in love again (tbh, did they ever fell out of love? I don't think so), learn to trust eachother and eventually we see what needed to happen to push them together forever.

Such a short story, but DEFINATELY worth reading!! It takes an amazing writer to write a short story with great characters and a great storyline. Damn good job, Willow!
