It just wasn't working for me in general and Dorian was being insufferable.

Wow! This is a sequel that really delivers. It's a superbly-written follow-up to a fantastic first book in the series, throwing new conflict at our favourite characters and taking us to deeper depths of emotion, frustration and mystery. Hargrave has incredible skill in giving us close-up character-driven emotion, genuine external stakes that keep us gripped, AND extremely well-written erotica that adds even more depth to the story. The characters are so real it hurts - especially when they're doing things that frustrate us! - and the wider story of battling against the oppressive purity regime feels incredibly important, never falling too far into the background. I am addicted and can't wait for the next book!

I was delighted to be able to arc this novel following reading the first one which just held a special place in my heart. As I read this one, I found myself relating to Dorian in such a strong way, I emphasize with some of his choices. The manner of how Gabe wrote his characters just had me losing my mind over how the relationships within these book just grew and evolved and I cannot wait to read book 3.

i read an alpha copy of this so i cannot wait to re-read it and see any changes when it comes out!!

i love this series so much. the characters are so complex and real and raw and i cried seeing them learn about themselves and laughed at their shenanigans. gabe writes emotional journeys + sex scenes SO WELL and i loved the dummies trying to solve a murder mystery plot! it was refreshing to see through laith’s eyes this time instead of dorian’s as well!
