God - so heartbreaking. So much misogyny. How can the followers of that god hate women so very much? Jewish, Muslim and Christian extremists are all so brutal. And while Hosseini probably thought he was providing a happy ending,, he couldn't have known the U.S. would withdraw from Afghanistan leaving the Taliban to their Jihad rule again.

This second book from Hosseini was even better than the first. It truly gave me enormous insight into the plight of women in despotic or warring societies. After reading the book I went on a quest to help and joined Women for Women, International.

This was such a gut-wrenching, rip your heart out, moving book. A wonderful book! It made me cry, very powerful.

This was the second time I read this book. As a rule, I don't re-read but this book is exceptional. Easier to really enjoy the second time. Love this one. Puts things in perspective.
