This book is for precisely those people who read Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events and thought, "You know, they didn't suffer that much."
The art is delightfully creepy, the text even more so. The twisted alphabet, in which every letter is a child and every child dies gruesomely, will put your toddler to sleep instantly and keep you up with night terrors for many hours to come.
I promise I'm not a monster. D:

The disarming simplicity of alphabets as a prompt to write a book - especially an Edward Gorey one! - is phenomenal. It is a little treasure, just because.
