This is a very short book that really engrossed me. It’s truly a universal story about grief, animals, love, loss, and coping. But it’s also very clever, beautifully written, and even funny. It’s extremely relatable and methodical. I’d highly recommend this book to anyone.

Still gathering my thoughts but first impressions
-there’s not a traditional plot, yet I couldn’t put this book down
-the end had me very emotional, idk something about moving past a feeling, even a bad one, feels like some kind of bittersweet culmination or release
-kinda want to immediately reread to piece together all the literary references and commentary about writing

the aftermath of a suicide

, but dealt with in a very thoughtful, respectful, and sensitive way. Those who have great difficulty with the subject, though, should probably give this a miss.

This book is sad and depressing. Which you get from the synopsis but the synopsis also makes it seem like the character gets out of the depressive state she’s in with help from the dog. But she doesn’t. There’s no plot. These no character development. If you’re a pet owner don’t read it because there’s discussion AT LENGTH about animals dying, having to be put to sleep etc. no thank you.
