Top Ten Reasons This Book is Still Good Even as a Twenty-Something

10. It's so far fetched that it's a great escape from normal life
9. Who doesn't like top ten lists?
8. Who doesn't like Gwen Stefani (from back in her No Doubt days obviously)?
7. Sam originally named her dog Monet. Now isn't that a good name for a dog.
6. It's political without actually being political. We get to talk about the president and his family and art.
5. Sometimes I also want to feed gross food to my dog or pick at it to make it look like I've eaten some.
4. It's a super fast read you can finish in a day.
3. She learns what frisson really is and feels like.
2. Sam actually has the guts to admit she likes the president's son on national television!
1. Happy endings all the time in Meg Cabot's books!

This was the book that got me into reading as a tween. I was about 10 or 11 when this book came out and haven't though of it since then. I'm 33 now and this was like traveling back in time, yet to a period I was very much alive for and could connect with. The references to millennial things like "Amazon.com," No Doubt, and CD's brought me great joy.

I remember being obsessed with this book when I first read it but I was wary of going into this read with high expectations, what with the 20 year gap in time between reads. However, this read was just as enjoyable as the first one, maybe a bit more since I could appreciate the writing and characterization this time around.
