I've really enjoyed this series! I am impressed at how Craft has been able to explain different forms of racism and capture what being a POC in the U.S. feels like. The story has multiple layers while still being understandable by young readers. That's the reality of being a tween/teen, juggling all of these aspects of life while trying to figure out who you are. It's even harder when you're looked at differently.
I also appreciate the funny moments, word puns, and pop culture references. I think it makes it a good read for middle grade and up.

A great follow-up to New Kid! Starts to talk about some heavy topics but in a light-hearted, easy-to-understand way.

A worthy sequel to New Kid, a bit more on the heartwarming side by the end than the first book, which I appreciate. How does Jerry Craft fit in SO MUCH cringe? How does he do it? At times it's equivalent to a particularly intense episode of The Office, for cringe content.

A great sequel to New Kid! It was similar to New Kid in the sense of still seeing the racism Jordan and Drew deal with at their school. We follow Jordan's friend, Drew but I liked seeing Jordan, Drew, and Liam's lives and how the boys grew closer in their friendship and learned about their differences. It also teaches the lesson of money doesn't buy happiness.
Moderate: Racism
