I loved the part of the story where it takes place in ether. The rest of the Story little dragged but I liked the ending. And I loved Zaratan & Griphowl. Ofcourse salamander is still my favourite!

I'd rate the final installment of the Summoner Trilogy at 4 stars, but when considering the trilogy as a whole, it lands between 3.5 and 3.75 stars.
The characters are engaging and enjoyable to follow, but the antagonists fall short, lacking complexity or well-defined motives. They serve mainly as plot devices to create tension and conflict for the main characters. Although the magic system initially promises originality, it eventually recedes into the background, becoming an underdeveloped aspect of the story.
The concluding book adeptly ties up loose ends, providing a satisfying resolution to the narrative. However, the trilogy teeters on the brink of becoming an expansive, epic fantasy but never quite reaches that level of grandeur. Despite this, it effectively tackles themes of racial hatred and promotes the importance of unity as a countermeasure.
If you're in the market for a fast-paced, compact fantasy series featuring a compelling cast, the Summoner Trilogy is worth your time.

The Summoner is a series I've been following from the beginning.
In a huge offer of young adult fantasy novels, there were some things that made me like this series more than the rest:
✓ Male protagonist. I've got a young boy and I hope he will be a fantasy lover like me. I am glad to see series like this, that I can give him and hook him up to the genre.
✓ Mages have cute animals as helpers/companions. (like in a [b:The Golden Compass|119322|The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, #1)|Philip Pullman|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1505766203s/119322.jpg|1536771]).
✓ Diverse races. Not only humans but dwarves, elves, goblins, gremlins, orcs, ...
✓ Breath-taking magical spells and intense battle scenes.
✓ Taran Matharu handles a huge cast of character well and you won't get characters mixed.
As always, the book is not perfect and suffers from same problems like the rest of the series:
✗ Slow start
✗ Rushed ending.
After a slow start, this book has so much to offer for such a little number of pages. Not one not two but three huge events. Some other writer would use them to write one book about each separately. While I wish they were more detailed, it certainly increased the tension. I read first half in 4 days and second half of the book in one sitting. :D
If you are looking for a male-friendly ya fantasy or are a WOW fan, give The Summoner a try. It's fun.

The Battlemage is the final book in the Summoner Series so I don't want to give away any spoilers. The story follows Fletcher an orphan from the north. Fletcher befriends a dwarf and an elf. He makes other friends throughout the trilogy. There are also what they call demons. (Is compare the demons with the summoning similar to Pokémon.)

”Man lever bedst i nuet,”
A great conclusion to the story. The plot were exciting and interesting, with a great plot development and interesting plottwists.
I really liked the descriptions, they printede the world very nicely. It was interesting with the new elements and locations in the book. I enjoyed reading The Battlemage and I had a hard time puttung the book, I had to know how it would end.

This book had a lot of great things going on, and a lot of loose ends that needed to be tied up before finishing, and I thought it did that well. However I found myself not caring whether or not I picked the book back up in certain places, just because the pacing would have lulls in between exciting plot points, that not necessarily bored me, but kind of took me out of the story and made me forget what the actual objective was.
Overall still a strong series, and plan on reading the prequel as well!

I think my only complaint with this book is that we didn't get enough of a wrap-up. What we did get was fantastic. I just wish there was more of it.
I hope that Mr. Matharu continues the story in the future. I'd like to revisit these characters again.
