I read this book to my students and they LOVED it!

"The magic tree house has returned and it’s taking Jack and Annie back in time to Alaska, 1925. There they meet Balto, a jet-black Siberian husky destined to save victims of the diphtheria epidemic. But the trail isn’t easy, and Balto is going to need Jack and Annie’s help!"

This was my first Magic Tree House book and, honestly, it was pretty lame and contrived. But I could see myself loving it as a kid. Also this one was about sled dogs and Balto, which ruled.

Balto of the Blue Dawn is an early chapter book written by Mary Pope Osborne and illustrated by Sal Mardocca. This Magic Tree House book was published on December 26th, 2016. The book follows the story of siblings Annie and Jack who time travel to Alaska in 1925. They help Balto bring medicine to a town suffering from diphtheria. This early chapter book would be appropriate for kids ages 9 and up. This is a fast-paced adventurous book that many kids would enjoy. The book includes some illustrations that kids would also enjoy. I did not find anything particularly problematic. Although, throughout the book, many uncommon vocabulary words were defined and that was useful. In the classroom, this could be used to model dialogue or description as those elements are prevalent in the book. <Balto> <Alaska> <Adventure> <Dogsledding>

We all loved this one. There was a moment when we were really worried about Jack! The longer books take few more risks. And the kids were fascinated by the dog sleds.

I've always been obsessed with Balto. I got in trouble for the first time at school when my kindergarten class was about to watch the movie. I had a blood blister on my middle finger and I put my other fingers down to show a friend. She told the teacher I was being mean and I had flipped her off so I wasn't allowed to watch the movie. I had to sit by the teacher's desk and read instead. It wasn't a super harsh punishment, since I loved reading already, and my teacher knew that, but I was so excited to see the movie.
