No me gustó

I don’t remember how this ended up on my to-read list but I’m glad it did. A terrifying insight into ritual, mob mentality and the role of scapegoating in society. Very tightly written.

An unsettling short story that examines the dark side of human nature and the consequences of blindly following tradition. The story starts in a seemingly idyllic small town, but as the lottery unfolds, the reader quickly realizes that something sinister is at play.
Jackson masterfully builds suspense through her vivid descriptions and keen attention to detail. The characters are realistically portrayed, making the shocking conclusion all the more impactful. The story challenges the reader to question societal norms and consider the cost of conformity.
While "The Lottery" is a chilling and thought-provoking read, its brevity leaves some aspects underexplored. A deeper dive into the background and motivations of the characters could have added even more layers to this already powerful narrative. Nevertheless, Jackson's skillful storytelling and the story's haunting message make it a must-read for anyone interested in exploring the darker aspects of human behavior.
