I was worried that the ending of this was going to leave me feeling awful. But…it felt more like lucid dreaming. It felt like it ended how I wanted it to, despite the cliche. And I’m ready for Vol. 3.

I want to like this more than I did, but I’m still holding out hope that one of these volumes is finally gonna hit for me (my friend lent me 1 through 4 so I have that many opportunities to get hooked)

Ok, I was right, it took the first volume to be awkward and figure out the direction of the series before becoming really, really good. This was phenomenal. The stories were clever and interesting- the "Cereal Convention" especially was odd but fascinating but also kind of terrifying. I also liked the mix of standalone stories but also longer story arcs. And I finally understood what was going on! I'm not sure if it was because there was a more cohesive story (true) or if I got used to the oddness that is Neil Gaiman's writing (also, true), but this volume really wowed me. Again, I didn't love-love the art (90's comic art just doesn't do it for me) but that's just me and the story more than makes up for it. It's just so good.
