This sequel was well worth the wait. While the novel was more political based, I LOVED everything about it. Instead of seeming like a sequel, it was as if Ink Mistress and Of Fire and Stars had a love child, tossed in some mind blowing twists and just for good measure throws your heart into a burning fire. **************** FULL Review to come, but seriously - go buy the book. It comes out on the 13th (I believe) and it's worth every single moment spent reading it.

In some ways I liked it better than the first, in others I didn't. Overall it was a good book, but I felt like some of the plot points were a bit weak. The characters are definitely the highlight, and there are several of the background characters that I'd love to get to know better.

It had been a while since I read the first book, so I was confused starting this because I couldn’t remember a lot of the side characters from the first book who were mentioned here. But once the plot started and i got a sense of direction this was really good! I did get a bit confused with the first person POV for both characters but it definitely helped that they both had different storylines. I really loved all the characters relationships and friendships and the character development with Mare and Denna! The politics was more slow moving than the training.
I really liked Denna’s chapters and her friends and I did enjoy Mare and Fadeyka’s friendship but her chapters weren’t as fast paced as Denna’s.

The second book was cute, I enjoyed the first one a bit better. However the charter build I felt was very important in this one and needed to be expanded upon. We learned more about the lore and history behind the world!
