So disappointed by this :( I loved the first book and it was go-to rec for sapphic fantasy but the sequel just didn't work out. This wasn't intended as the final part of the series but as it stands now, it is. Mare and Denna are separated for a lot of it and honestly, I'm not here for the development of new friendships, I'm here for their relationship — and we got next to nothing of that. There are so many new characters (almost none of them fun) and it just felt like a completely new series compared to the first book.
Graphic: Death, Violence, and War
Moderate: Death of parent
Minor: Trafficking and Fire/Fire injury

i liked the original one for the world and the magic, but the plot here just wasn't for me. i was mostly bored by this point so i just decided to drop it. i might come back to this but likely not.
Graphic: Fire/Fire injury

A worthy sequel to Of Fire and Stars, I found myself pleasantly surprised by Of Ice and Shadows twists and turns. I loved that Coulthurst expanded on her world building, but it was never too much as to bore me. I will definitely be picking it up again.
Moderate: Animal death, Body horror, Death, and Blood
Minor: Torture, Excrement, and Vomit
