Clearly, there's been a lot of world building in whatever series this spins off from, but I felt fairly able to figure it out based on the context cues. The characters, a bartender and a reluctant demigod, were interesting to me. The southwestern setting was well drawn, as were the supporting characters.

Interesting world building with Aztec and other indigenous Mexican and Central American mythologies woven in.

Cougars, demons, angels and gods, oh my! Don't forget the demigods either! I very thoroughly enjoyed this book and was delighted to discover that it's part of a greater universe that I can't wait to dive into.

The characters are fun and believable and certain characters (cough cough Tito) needed to get out of their heads and just accept reality!

Moved very quickly at times and I had to reread certain sections just to figure out what happened, but that's probably just me :)

Thanks to Netgalley for the read.
