This series is dense and takes a long time, but it’s worth it to me. Cronin writes with a gravitas that is like scripture, and gives such reverence to moments of love both grand and small in such a dark setting. He manages to be uplifting and moving in a pretty surreal and intense story. I loved it. My eyes watered a LOT.
