I'm a marshmallow.

I know. You're shocked. I play a good game with my tough-love ratings and the fact that when it comes to f-bombs I've taken Snoop D-O-Double-G's advice to heart and dropped 'em like its hot, but it's true: I'm a fucking marshmallow.

So are you really surprised that I loved [b:Punch-Drunk Love|22459578|Punch-Drunk Love|Nico Jaye|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1402555642s/22459578.jpg|41894370]?! I mean, Nico Jaye is the
Spoilerunicorn
queen of sweet, gooey, fluffy stories that induce giggle snorts and big, lusty I-wish-I-were-a-gay-unicorn-with-a-cowboy-to-love-me sighs in equal measure. Then, because she's a bit of a perv, she delivers the smut. Good smut. Derek and Stiles Oliver may not be the most complicated of characters, but as they walked off into the sunset together - naked as they day they were born - I was left with a big, dopey grin on my face.

As always, my thanks to the author for participating in the Love's Landscapes event and for all of the behind-the-scenes work that editors, beta readers, unicorn toque-wearing cover artists, and the MM Group Mods put into making this FREE event a massive success!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Oliver Reyes is a slightly nerdy kickboxer who is part of an elite team in San Francisco. Oliver is also more than slightly gay and has a crush on the team's captain, Derek Vance. Oliver is not very obvious about his crush, certain that it's unlikely Derek would reciprocate. When the team travels to Las Vegas for a competition, Oliver goes out to scope out entertainment options for a future trip with his friends, and what he finds is more than he expected.

I really liked this story. It's sweet and fluffy with a dash of racy heat thrown in--something I think is expected from a Nico Jaye story. The pacing is a bit inconsistent, with a lot of slow build and then very quick resolution that almost leaves some things feeling unresolved. Though that just increases my desire to read and know more about these characters...if they might possibly resurface somewhere in the future.

I loved Oliver. He's going to school for a biochemistry degree, but also has a crazy kickboxing training schedule. Kickboxing element of the story was really great.

I was confused about a few things with Derek though. I liked the character, but felt like there were things missing. We didn't get to know him as well as we got to know Oliver.

I really thought the side characters had some dynamicness in the story. Loved Izzy the most. Excited to read more from Nico Jaye soon.

'In Which Tequila is Diablo' is one of my favorite chapter titles now.

I really enjoyed this story. The characters were believable and unbelievably cute. Oliver and Derek, aka Sparkles and JJ, were hot and nerdy which always does with my nerdy brain.
Would love to know if they kept those costumes :)

This one surprised me a little bit. I mostly read it for my Around-the-country-challenge, but the blurb wasn't bad. After finishing it I can truly say - this wasn't what I expected. In a good way. It was funny, and sweet and actually pretty wholesome for such a short story. And hot. Really hot. I really enjoyed it.
