Needless to say, this book is problematic. Looking back, I can't believe we even bought these books and thought that - "YES! That's exactly what love is". I'm a pretty easy going reader with problematic books. I can't believe I'm making a comparison to this book, but there was a time when certain behaviors were staples in our society. Women couldn't vote, rape was not considered rape between spouses only until 1988, and the plethora of writing from the '50s a ala Mad Men treated women as accessories. These are not forgivable, but they were the norm for their time.

Emotionally abusive relationships and unhealthy co-dependence was never a norm unless I had amnesia in 2011 when this gem was published. That's the problematic part, not that the author is unveiling a truth that was rampant in our culture, but that she glorifies abuse and even adds on a happily ever after.

The sad part is that looking back, as a teenager, I did think that this is what love was. That the can't breathe, can't be without you, your boyfriend being jealous and angry- was the true mark of love. Forget that he's violent and emotionally manipulates you. I ended up in one of these relationships. This is my first time reading this book, and I don't blame it for my actions of the past, but I'm worried about what young girls do think about this book today.

Overall feeling for the characters - these sad souls deserve each other.

Not terrible, but my Lord, are they both a mess and it seems as if they must be soulmates. Some of the things that she’s on the things that he did absolutely cringe worthy of a terrible book read it in 24 hours. Now I can watch the movie.

No voy a cambiar la puntuación que le di hace años, PERO sí que voy a decir que me ha encantado releer Beautiful Disaster. Y que el primer capítulo se llame Red Flag dice mucho del libro. But did I care??? I. CAN'T. GET. NO. SATISFACTION.

Y sí, es tóxico, pero hay que querer a Travis. Y mucho.

Y estoy nerviosa por la adaptación... Colton Haynes, you will be missed

Let me start with saying that I really liked this book and couldn't put it down. When I first came across this book on goodreads I was sure this wasn't a book for me. I didn't like the cover (I still don't, it just doesn't fit the book I think) and there was nothing supernatural about it. Some very good reviews about this book made me change my mind. The blurb did sound interesting and I decided a book without something supernatural would also be nice for a change, so I decided to read it. And I am really glad I did. I started this book on an evening before going to bed and the 15 minutes reading I had planned quickly changed into an hour before I convinced myself I had to go sleep now. The whole book has this effect. There where some events that I didn't like or frustrated me, but I just wanted to keep reading. The book isn't perfect, but it deserves those 5 stars!

So there is nothing supernatural about this book, it is mainly about the social life of Abby, altough I have to say her social life is anything but normal. I remember Terri describing this book as an "emotional rollercoaster" and I agree that this is a very good way to describe this book. There are happy moments and sad moments and moments that just frustrated me. I had to say this book did frustrate me a lot, and there where many moments that I just wanted to shake some sense into the two lead characters. This story mainly resolves about Abby and Travis. Travis seems to be anything Abby doens't want, but still they get involved. This book is about the low and high points of their relationship. It is a great story about how two people who seem very different fall in love.

I really liked the interactions between the characters. I think the characters somethimes reacted a bit too extreme, but most of the times it stayed believeable. It is a very emotional book, with many highs and lows. Most of the characters have a tendency to react very emotional to events. But that's also what I liked about this book. You really feel with the characters and experience their emotions.

To conclude: I really liked this book. Altough it sometimes frustrated me, I just couldn't put it down. And I think that the fact I just wanted to keep reading is one of the strongest points of this book. It is really addictive and I am sad that there are no more stories about Abby and Travis, altough the ending is really good. I am going to read the other series of this author for sure! I would recommend this book to everyone who likes a good romance, trust me you won't be dissapointed.

2.5/3 I’m just...ugh. It had so much potential in the beginning to be good. I devoured the first half of the book but then the further I got (particularly in the last third) every character frustrated me and Abby had me rolling my eyes every 10 seconds. At one point she made a decision that I thought to myself “yes, empowering, yes take care of yourself first” but then she gets into a cycle of doing stupid things and it was just disappointing. Everything felt rushed and ridiculously uncomfortable. I’m sorry but I couldn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted to when I started it.
