This was quite fun. A little different than what I expected from the synopsis, I thought he was going to pursue her more but he gave up rather quickly and then once that happened she developed an interest in him. I do like how they enjoyed each others company and he told her things he hadn’t revealed to anyone else. Also he ends up hiring this little boy to work for him, I enjoyed that addition to the story.

I gave this a four-star the first time I read it? What on earth was I thinking? No, this is a five-star book, fuck past me.

Tom is a bastard and nobody could possibly fit his life and his heart better than Cassandra. Another perfect match, Lisa Klaypas is amazing.

I have to come clean before starting this review. I haven’t read the first books in that series (only read book 5) and this might have affected my enjoyment of this one. I remember how freaking ecstatic I was to see characters from The Wallflowers series in book 5 (I was screaming every time I saw the name St. Vincent, you know). But in Chasing Cassandra, I feel like you get to see more of the Ravenels characters, which are almost all strangers to me, so! That being said, the book was still great! I just think I’d have been more hyped if I knew everyone in it.

I loved Tom instantly. He is definitely my type of character. Quite different from everyone, looks a little like a black sheep. And he has such an interesting view on things. So detached from his emotions. Also quite lonely without caring or even knowing it. But Cassandra slowly makes him see things differently. And that is the kind of relationship building that I enjoy. Their interest in each other is there from the start, they just cannot agree on important things, which makes a relationship kind of pointless. But when life pushes them together, they have to learn to compromise. Lady Cassandra was easy to love, really just that nice, soft, wanting to please character, but she still stood up for what she wanted and needed.

So yes, great characters, great story, Lisa Kleypas never disappoints!

I wish that the villains in this book were dealt with better. For all that it stirred up for Cassandra, I feel like it was dealt with too easily.

I also understand that Tom's whole thing is that he isn't emotional, but I did not like him at all in the beginning and just wanted Cassandra to find someone else and be happy. Tom grew on me a bit in the end, but he is still not even close to my favorite kleypas hero.

I loved the cameos from the past characters!
