This book was way different from what I normally read, but I still really enjoyed it! You can tell the author took a lot of time researching and it really payed off! I will definitely be reading the second one at some point! I feel like this book is really under hyped sadly (i mean look at the cover it's gorgeous). So overall I really enjoyed it! I feel like the ending was perfect as well.
Graphic: Body horror, Child death, Gore, Blood, and Death of parent
Moderate: Gun violence, Torture, and Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Drug use

I had such high hopes for this book...however it did feel like it was dragging so much with the plot/characters. I didn't find too much satisfaction in the end. I did enjoy the thrill of trying to figure out what was going on but got lost at times with a lot of the facts [there was a lot of forensic and medical terminology with not a lot of explanation] If you enjoy anything like criminal minds, or silence of the lambs, this is for you.
Graphic: Animal cruelty, Child abuse, Child death, Confinement, Drug use, Gun violence, Panic attacks/disorders, Physical abuse, Violence, Blood, Kidnapping, Grief, and Murder

This is the easiest five stars I have ever given to a book. The plot was amazing and included so many twists and turns I just did not see coming and the characters were incredible, especially Simon’s character was so complex and intricate. It’s also worth noting that though this book is set in the 80s, the setting is weaved so expertly into the story that the time period is not at the forefront of the story (unlike many other stories set then). 100% recommend this book to anyone who likes crime and serial killers, but also for fans of Karen M. McManus’s One of Us Is Lying, Silence of the Lambs, Mindhunter, the Sinner and any other book/movie/show in that same realm.
Graphic: Death, Drug use, Gore, Gun violence, Violence, Blood, Kidnapping, Grief, Murder, and Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Animal cruelty, Animal death, Bullying, Panic attacks/disorders, Torture, Forced institutionalization, and Cannibalism
Minor: Sexism and Vomit
