Started slow but I liked and even loved it at the end.
Characters are very well written. The book conveys real emotions, which the author also achieved in " " (even though the plot in that book was too scattered).
The plot in Tomorrow was much tighter, plausible, had a good rythm in going back and forth in time as well as in expressing the different perspectives for each character.
The book has a cozy campus / start-up feel and nerdy, good-hearted, but damaged, type of characters. Very atmospheric.
A bit short-sentenced and easy readible, it has a YA-vibe in that respect, but the emotions  were real and even heavy (at times).
The strongest point of the story are the loveable characters,  it is so empathically written and told that this empathy transfers to you as a reader - there is so much love for them in this book. This is Levin's secret as a writer, I guess.

Would recommend, but don´t expect too much of this book. It´s a grower and you have to respect that it's really not that spectacular. It´s a bit of an outsider actually. It´s from that position that the book can surprise you and get to you: in its honesty and authenticity of the storytelling.
Two things that are also present in other books by Levin, but now with a good plot and timing.

I can’t tell if I liked this book or not. It’s very well-written and the characters are compelling to read, even if I didn’t actually like 2 of the 3 main characters.

As I continued reading, I I started to not really like Sam or Sadie. I found myself rooting for each of them and then being disappointed in each of them, because I hoped/expected more from them as they grew as people. Marx was my favorite and I was absolutely devastated by the NPC chapter. However, even though I was frustrated by Sam and Sadie, I was compelled by how they were written.

This was such a breathtakingly sweet book. I haven’t read such deep characterizations and well-developed relationships in a long time. I loved how Sadie and Sam were high-brow, Uber intellectuals dedicated to their crafts but they also walked extra miles in the rain just to get nice umbrellas for their friends’ wedding. Like, they were always decent people in addition to being really creative, driven workaholics who each endured a great deal of strife. The tortured artist thing happens a lot in these kinds of books and it could easily and logically have gone in that direction, but I’m really impressed by this characterization choice.
My main qualm with the book was that it contradicted itself sometimes; like Sam started out saying he would never be in love with Sadie but then he was like “I’m in love with Sadie”. I guess that was always supposed to be kind of evident, but I didn’t love that. The jump from Sadie loving Sam and being willing to move back to California for his benefit to hating him because she thought he deliberately took advantage of her relationship with Dov was also a little too sudden for me to believe. The narrative also kind of jumps from past to present to future a lot and it was sometimes like the book was going off on a random tangent, but it eventually would come back around.
Lastly, Marx Watanabe—my very best friend—I love you so dearly and I want to be exactly like you every day of my life.

I don't know what it is about this book but I'm having a really hard time getting into it. I flew through part 1, part 2 went slower and now mid-part 3 I never want to pick it up. The writing is excellent, but I think something about the length and pacing at this point has turned me off. I've read a ton of reviews but still don't really feel interested enough to see where this goes.

Sam and Sadie meet in an unconventional way at a children hospital while they are young. Sam has just been through a terrible accident and Sadie helps him come out of his shell by playing games together. They spend much of their formative years caring for each other, but never at the same time. This story spans much of their lives and covers their careers as video game designers.

A realistic fiction, with part video game description (slight sci-fi feel). Would recommend to video game fans that enjoy a little bit of drama true to life. Sadie and Sam both go through various tragedies in their lives, sometimes together.
