So glad I read this book last from this series
Apple Books make it seem like it should be read first but definitely takes place last
This was 100% the darkest from the series too and I loved it
Willow pushed boundaries in the best ways possible

Ok, this was probably the best one in the series. Was it also the most fucked up? Probably.

All that to say, I did enjoy it more than I expected. The pacing was kind of weird. Things happened maybe a little bit too quickly. Like, it was not believable as it could have been. I wanted more story honestly!

Also, it was not the same formula as the other books! It definitely felt a little fresher which was great. I also read most of this in one sitting, so take all of this with a grain of salt.

I really liked the tongue in cheek aspect of this. Catherine loves romance books (specifically dark romance…wink wink) and is stunned to find herself basically thrown into one. Anthony was like messed up but not the worst MMC in the series. Actually, he probably is the worst MMC in this series but he’s one of the better written ones, so I did like him. Obviously this is a very short book so backstory is pretty bare bones, and I would have enjoyed more of it.

Overall, I’m not sure why I forced myself through this series after how bad Dirty Dom was. The editing was subpar and the writing wasn’t great. Story wise, there are about 1000 plot holes and I have a lot of unanswered questions. But it was a wild ride that I would not mind repeating in the future with other Willow Winters books. I guess I’m in my mafia romance era now?

Meh.

I’m not sure I enjoyed this one even close to as much as the others.

He basically kidnaps and holds her prisoner in order to save her. She is rebellious and wants to leave (obviously). She sends a message of a cry for help from her computer and gets punished for it(punishment is being locked in a cell in the basement). Then after the punishment(3 days later) she all of a sudden loves him.

Again, I’m just left feeling like there could have been more in between those two events to get her to that final point of love.

I listened to the audiobook a couple of years ago. This story stuck out in an endless sea of mafia romance. This was one of, if not my first, foray into darker themed (non paranormal) romance. I forgot the title and have been searching for months so I can read it again (which I almost never do). I can't wait to fall in love with Anthony all over again.

A great conclusion of the Valetti boys books. Willow Winters knows how to write a good romance and continue the same universe of the previous books. I would love to read all of them.
