This would have been quite fun to read as a newspaper serial! I definitely wouldn't have won the contest. Not exactly memorable, but still, a cozy Golden Age read.

This book is harmless enough with an affable main character and a fairly low stakes plot. How they discover what happened to the missing girl is pretty stupid - it's convenient that they forget to check the one vital location. Although it's short, the story really drags towards the end.
