Beautiful, funny, moving story. I loved the portrayal of the father. Single fathers are so rarely portrayed, especially as so loving and caring. I enjoyed the fact the narrator is the younger son rather than the older one and that he has a unique interest. It was educational, memorable and really cleverly told.

Damien is obsessed with saints. He has them all memorized and even has visions of them. One day, while contemplating the saints, a sack of money falls out of the sky. What at first seems like a wonderful gift, of course, quickly turns into a burden.

I really liked Damien's voice and the tone of the book. His innocence and different world view were very engaging. Written in first person the confiding tone of the narrative draws the reader in and makes them a confidant, inviting them into Damien's bizarre world.

I liked the book more for Damien than for the plot, which felt at time fairly predictable. However, there are funny insights and beautiful moments that stand out in my mind and make the book shine. Overall the storey was well written and told.

After reading Millions by Frank Cottrell Boyce, I have discovered many things about the characters in the book. The protagonist and narrator of the novel; Damian Cunningham finds a bag full of cash after it turns up at his hermitage. At first he doesn't know what to do until he turns to his brother Anthony who decides to use and spend the money wisely. What I liked about this book was about how Damian isn't as sociable like his brother and he often wanders off into his own world rather than spending his time in reality.

"Millions" was a great book to read with an ongoing plot that didn't bore me throughout the whole novel.
