I read Flirting on Ice & Simmering Ice as a box set called ICED which was kindly provided to me by Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review and I enjoyed both of these novellas a lot.

They were both sweet and easy reads with likable characters and each had a couple of hot moments.

Out of the two novellas I enjoyed Flirting on Ice more. As I felt Zac and Heather had more of a connection and the story drew me in more. That's not to say though that Simmering Ice didn't draw me in. It did I just didn't really feel the spark between Annie and Alec and Annie frustrated me at times too. But I still enjoyed it and if you like your hockey romance sweet and easy then I would certainly suggest giving these two novellas a go.

this is a quick, easy, predictable romance story.

i'm a big hockey fan so any time there is a story with a big, sweet player i'm in! this book did not disappoint. i really liked all the characters and am anxious to read more of this series. heather was strong, independent and supportive of zac. zac was sweet and ready for a real relationship. their chemistry is great from the beginning.

the writing was good and flowed well. most of the story was pretty predictable but that didn't take away from the story. if you need a feel good book with a happy ending this holiday season, this book is for you!

Reviewed on my blog, Becky on Books for 11/17/14.

Seriously, they had me at "hockey player". I just knew I was going to be all over this book. ;)

Flirting on Ice is a quick, fun read. I loved Zac, the captain of the Atlantic City Hustlers, and Heather, the only daughter of the team's owner. Their romance was a bit fast-paced, but presumably the two have known each other for a while before the story began and both had already felt an attraction, so it's not totally unbelievable.

It worked for me, anyway. ;)

Heather's dad would rather she didn't get involved with any of his players, and he definitely doesn't want one of the team's biggest players to hit on his baby girl, so their relationship isn't supposed to go anywhere from the start. But they have a meet cute at the beach with a dog, and the rest is history...

Except Zac's team suddenly isn't doing as well as expected--and everyone knows that once a team does well one year, the fans expect bigger and better every year after that--and Zac himself seems to be in a bit of a slump. It's not totally unheard of for fans to latch onto and blame player or team "bad luck" on totally unrelated things, like who a player's dating (remember the whole Tony Romo/Jessica Simpson drama?), and Heather starts to get booed at games.

Plus, Zac's contract is up for negotiation, sparking all kinds of lovely comments from all quarters--especially from his opponents on the ice--about what he'll need to do to get a better deal this time around.

Yeah, our hero and heroine are pretty much stuck between the infamous rock and its lifetime companion, hard place. How can they possibly stay together? Should they even try?

I was glad that this was a quick read--because it's November, AKA NaNoWriMo, and I'm supposed to be writing--but I did feel like the entire story could have benefited from a longer treatment. Don't get me wrong--I loved the characters, liked the way the drama was ratcheted up, and believed in their romance--but ultimately more story here would have been a good thing. Everything was resolved just a tad bit quickly at the end (especially when the man who hired the antagonist of the story turned around and decided he was slime after about a millisecond of evidence--that was a bit abrupt), though their epilogue to their presumed-HEA was admittedly adorable.

Long story short--I am totally on board for more from this series. Bring on the sweaty guys in shoulder pads; I'm ready!

Rating: 4 stars / B

I read FLIRTING ON ICE as a box set called ICED which contained the first two titles in the Atlantic City Hustlers series along with SIMMERING ICE!

I really enjoyed both stories, and while I'd say that I liked SIMMERING ICE better than FLIRTING ON ICE, I did still really enjoy Zac and Heather's story! I loved both characters—they were absolutely wonderful and their romance was so sweet! I thought they were perfect for one another! I did feel like their story was rushed a lot more than Alec and Annie's was though, so I do wish that it'd been a little more flushed out—I would've loved to see more of their relationship as it built. Other than that, I thought it was fantastic and I'm definitely looking forward to more of the Atlantic City Hustlers series!

Along with the sweet romance, I thought that the story itself had a pretty great build, and while it was fairly dramatic, it definitely had me glued to the page! I especially loved how the authors introduced the team, and they left me curious about more than a few of the characters, so I was pretty glad to be able to read this one in a boxset since I was eager for more. :D

All in all, I thought that FLIRTING ON ICE was adorable! Both Zac and Heather were the kind of characters that were really easy to like. They were kind, generous, and I genuinely wanted the best for them, so they were pretty fantastic to read about. I'm glad that we'll get to see peeks of them going forward in future Atlantic City Hustlers books. ;) I'd recommend this one and the rest of the Atlantic City Hustlers series to fans of contemporary romance who like a little drama with their HEA, especially if, like myself, you're partial to sports romances. ;)

"4.5 out of 5 stars, after four years of getting to know each other through her family's hockey organization Heather finally gives into her desires to know Zac better, however once their relationship becomes known everyone tries to keep them apart. Is sticking together really worth the effort they are going to have to put into winning the approval of everyone or is being apart for the best?

This fast-paced holiday romance will win you over from the beginning! I liked how charismatic Zac is."
