It was good. I enjoyed how the flashbacks were handled through letters. I also enjoyed the podcasts interspersed through the story. It broke up the story and kept you moving through quickly.
I would have enjoyed the book more if they had set it in a real NC town. As an NC native, it seemed to have a bit of Jacksonville, a bit of the outer Banks, and a bit of Sneeds Ferry and it was very disorienting. I'm not sure the author has ever been to the North Carolina coast and it showed.

Good story, I figured it out pretty quick, but still worth the read.

Slow start, but picked up quickly. Almost too quickly.. didn’t see the end coming so that was a plus!

This had me hooked from page one and didn’t let me go! Don’t be fooled by the short chapters and easy to read style though, this book covers some deep, at times harrowing, ground. It kept me guessing till the end and will stay with me long after. Definitely one to recommend!

3.5 stars. Fair warning, The Night Swim is not an easy read. But it is a timely, powerful and quite frankly necessary read that calls attention to the many infuriating realities rape victims face every single day.
From a broken criminal justice system that continuously fails to bring said justice to these victims to the pervasive rape culture in today’s society that trivializes sexual assault and normalizes victim shaming, readers are given a very raw look at the perpetual trauma rape victims deal with and will continue to deal with for the rest of their lives. While fictional in this book, the unfortunate truth is that the consequences K and other rape victims suffer are not and something has to be done about it.
Though I ultimately did find the ripped-straight-from-the-headlines storyline itself slow-moving and a tad bit forgettable (I definitely would not categorize this as a thriller), I know for a fact that the sobering, very real injustices it highlighted will sit with me for awhile.
