the style of writing is so not what i appreciate in a book, the storyline is depressing, and I couldn't read past a certain point once i realised what was going on (esp w the british guy)

Even though I didn’t fully understand what was going on but I enjoyed myself nonetheless, and seeing the nuance in the twins perspectives was so interesting.

WOW. Just, WOW! I was gifted this book for Christmas last year with the premise that it was my friends ALL TIME FAVOURITE book. High expectations were set.
At the start I struggled to fully immerse myself and I feel this was because I was having issues with the whole airy-fairy magic, with Jude , and all the rituals and omens to live by, just seemed hard to believe and hard to relate to. Was it metaphorical, or was it realistic in their world?
Moving on from that minute details, I LOVED it and fully immersed myself into their world, feeling everything they felt. THIS is why I have to give it 5 stars, because even though there was one aspect that didn't tickle my pickle, I could feel what Jandy was trying to relay in her characters emotions and actions.
I feel like the nonlinear narrative was done to absolute perfection, as it would all connect within the different perspectives, even when there were years split between each chapter. I found myself DYING to go to the next chapter, just so it would go back to the last 'period in time' to find out what happens next now that I had the connecting dots.
Everything just fit together perfectly and was so so beautiful. The plot. The characters (NOAH!!!). The writing style. The LGBTQ aspects.
THANK YOU STACEY for being on my butt to read this, cause I feel like this is up there in my all-time favourite books!
“I gave up practically the whole world for you,” I tell him, walking through the front door of my own love story. “The sun, stars, ocean, trees, everything, I gave it all up for you.”

4.5 stars- Wow. This book was a beautiful piece of art. In fact, it was almost like a love story to anyone who has dreamed of being an artist. This tale painfully portrays loss and heartache, but will also make you laugh aloud. Please read if you haven't already.

I expected this to be a light, average read like The Sky is Everywhere, but it honestly wasn't. The characters were well formed and interesting. And although their characters underwent a drastic change post-tragedy, that change was very much believable.
The plot was amazing and there was no unnecessary page fillers. Overall, amazing book that played mightily with my feels.
