I enjoyed the audio of Lili Valente’s The Bangover. I splurged on the audio because I wanted to hear the author’s voice. I was not disappointed in her or Jason Clarke.

I love the storyline overall. Colin & Kirby have chemistry that leaps off the page. There were parts of the story I did not love but understand why they were there.

I think Lili Valente has set us up for a book between Shep & Bridget.

Ok, so can we please start off with the title. Hahahaha. Wow.
Pretty much the only thing that got this book it’s two starts was the spicy bits. Which were hot.
The storyline had me laughing, but I’m not sure if that was intentional or not. It was all a bit over the top and if that was the idea from the start then they did a good job. Like the mystery was all a bit silly. And if you didn’t work out the whole P. Eater thing then what are you even doing with your life…
So yeah, if you were thinking of reading a book called The Bangover already, then you’ll probably like this.

Wtf did I just read? This really missed in terms of what to expect in a friends to lovers. There was no build up. No tension. No angst. It was like one night they both decided it’d be a great idea if they fucked and then that was it. No answer as to why they’d spent their whole lives in the friend zone and suddenly want to bang. And the exes? Sweet lord, THIS is why readers ask if something has OW drama. So fucking much unnecessary drama. Between his ex and her ex, there was about 357% more drama than there needed to be. I’d rather have spent that time getting character development because we didn’t get ANY. What was the point of Kirby’s panic attack at the beginning? There was brief mentions of something with her mom? But nothing delved into or even resolved. Instead of the needed development, I got a mishmash book that was trying to do too many things at once (is it a romance? Is it a cozy? Is it a thriller? Who knows!) and failing at all.

This is the first book that I have read from Lili and I loved her writing style I really enjoyed this book and the connection between the characters. This book had me captivated from the first page and I couldn’t put my kindle down until I had finished it. I enjoyed the pacing of this and I can’t wait to read more of Lill’s work in the future I totally recommend

CWs: kidnapping, PTSD, mental health struggles, mentions of drug use/abuse.

This was so much more than I was expecting. I thought it would be a cheesy, steamy and hilarious romcom, but it was also suspenseful and more plot focused than I thought it would be. I didn’t think this was a bad thing, it was just unexpected.
I liked the plot even if it seemed a bit far fetched at times. It had me on the edge of my seat for a while, and I read this whole book in one sitting.
I also loved the characters. Kirby was so intriguing, and Colin was amazing. They were really good as individuals, but together they had a fantastic relationship rooted in friendship and I thought they had good chemistry. There were a few spicy scenes scattered throughout that I also found to be sweet and funny because of these characters.
The story moved along at a good pace and it was easy to follow. I really enjoyed reading it, and I’ll definitely be checking out the next book!

Expectations

This book was set up amazingly. Not only did the story flow correctly, but there was no confusion on the storyline. Some authors establish the villain in the middle making the plotline difficult to follow but this author established the misgivings before trouble started. The relationship between Colin and Kirby is that of best friends who are crossing the line not knowing what is going to happen in the future, as a reader I can feel how much they value their relationship with one another. Considering that these friends decide to head to Vegas was a spur of the moment to have some fun, it was an amazing story filled with hot scorching sex scenes and plot twists.
